Scarborough nightlife - dance, drink, have fun!
OK, so you came to Tobago for the beaches. But when the stars come out and you’ve had dinner, some restlessness might set in. Sure, the island is laid back and serene, but there is much more nightlife than you would imagine. Most hotels offer live music and entertainment poolside, but there are lots of small pubs and bars, casinos, even a little clubbing to be had in Tobago. On Sundays, everyone heads for Sunday School in Buccoo. In this case, Sunday School is not the place for religious instruction. The village of Buccoo hosts a street party with all the trimmings you would expect in the Caribbean: booming calypso, soca and reggae, a lively trade in local crafts, a barbeque, and all the food you can stomach. Get a game of pool in at Bar Code on Milford Road in Scarborough, 20/Twenty in Pleasant Prospect or Copra Tray in Bon Accord. The Great Fete and Great Race in August includes a full schedule of liming and partying. Meanwhile there’s “Scouting for Talent” every Wednesday night at the Golden Star at the junction of Milford Road and Pigeon Point Road, a talent show that has seen everything from singers and dancers to limbo and jugglers on rollerskates. At Café Iguana just outside the airport, on the corner of Store Bay Local Road, there’s live entertainment every Saturday night, open mike night on Thursdays and comedy on Mondays. Drumming night at Indigo at Pleasant Prospect is on Fridays. The Shade and Divers Den/Club 3:30 in Bon Accord and The Deep at Sandy Point Village service the club scene, and you can dance the night away there to the island’s top deejays.
